who we are

Although Thirstyarchitects' work may already be found on three continents, we are a proudly Ghanaian architecture design studio based in Accra. We translate our clients' dreams into authentic, functional, and sustainable designs.

“I believe aesthetics and sustainability are actually not the most essential elements of a design. The sense of belonging a design has is the most crucial factor in architecture. It's an identity created through the surrounding environment, the local culture, materiality, arrangement of spaces, and perhaps even the construction techniques used.”

Sustainability

We believe whenever possible, locally sourced materials should be used in designs. Beyond the materials, we ensure every design is tailored to its site to optimize ventilation and natural light, which is why ThirstyArchitects conducts a comprehensive site analysis before we begin design work on any project.

Originality

Every site is unique, and therefore no two ThirstyArchitects designs are exactly alike. We use a bit of magic to seamlessly incorporate the natural environment, local culture, functionality, and client's requirements into a timeless design that blends into its surroundings.

Local Culture

Many ThirstyArchitects designs are inspired by different principles of traditional African architecture. Not only is it beautiful, but many aspects of it are rooted in science that makes sense for the region. By incorporating elements of local culture into our designs, we pay homage to the local heritage and customs to ensure that even the most modern structure has a sense of belonging.

At ThirstyArchitects, our goal is

to create designs that organically flow into their surroundings

approach

“The spaces around us, both natural and manmade, leave significant imprints on our lives. The people we meet in these spaces and the emotions we experience all further intensify the experience. At ThirstyArchitects, part of our passion for architecture comes from creating spaces that amplify the sensory experience.

No matter the size of the project, it could be a pavilion, a house, a multifamily residential dwelling, educational, commercial, or cultural design. We believe these spaces should always offer their users the opportunity to experience an integration of the manmade and the natural environment in a way they never imagined.”
